| In
addition to conventional rectangles from
the panels illustrated, we are able to fabricate
cisterns in various shapes and
sizes. Height is limited to the
measurement given under its
respected design. Large hexagonal
or octagonal cisterns make impressive
central water features when combined
with one of our fountains. Other
panels available. Further details
on request.
Originally, lead
cisterns were used as rainwater
reservoirs. Designed and made by master plumbers
of the Stuart, Georgian Regency
and early Victorian periods.
Usually dated and decorated with shallow
paneling and symbolic details as any
prominent decoration would be in danger
of harsh treatment from domestic can or
bucket. Their decorative qualities
made them prominent features of larger
homes built in 18th Century.
